Irish Autism Action is an umbrella organisation with over 40 member groups and also individual members. They provide much needed support bring positive change into the lives of those affected by autism. The range of services that Irish Autism Action provides includes awareness raising, early detection diagnosis, education support, advocacy, counseling, helpline, home based support, transition planning, social housing, research information and advice for families upon receiving diagnosis.
April is Autism Awareness Month so this unique challenge will commence a schedule of activities that will be taking place around Ireland throughout the entire month. On April 1, World Autism Day, Niall Murphy a staff member in Irish Autism Action, has decided to stretch his limits by taking up the challenge of running 100 kilometres in one day whilst aiming to raise €100K for the charity so close to his heart, Irish Autism Action. Niall has an eleven year old boy with autism, so he is very much aware first-hand how challenging autism can be on families.
The challenge will take place in Rhode, Co. Offaly and we are looking for 100 captains to head up a team of 10 runners, joggers or walkers to do one of the 10k laps at your own pace on the day. Each team member needs to raise €100 in sponsorship or €1000 per team of 10.

Merlin Challenge 2007
In September 2007 the Merlin Motor Group raised an astounding €250,000 for Irish Autism Action. We held five events in total, including a 10k run/walk, 50k cycle, table quiz, golf event & an auction. It was a fantastic achievement for everybody involved and something we are extremely proud of. Irish Autism Action is an organisation of parents for parents. They all have first hand knowledge of discovering autism in their families and learning to cope with it.
